The Legacy Project (dedicated to Rosemarie Michmerhuizan*

I am a collector of stories, people’s stories. If you are a people (Person, I know) you have a story. Every life is precious and everyone’s story is worth sharing.

*Rosemarie Michmerhuizan

She was a collage artist, a writer and a deep thinker with a very colorful story which was unfolded to me over time.

She inspired me to produce the work, “Rosemarie’s Story” in Hyde Park, (Boston) Massachusettes, performed at Menino Art Center It is one of the productions I am most proud of. Rosemarie’s brilliant skits played out on stage and her striking collages were

displayed for people to enjoy during intermission. The scenery, backdrops, and fabulous props including a car and motorcycle

(which was later publically displayed for months on end) were produced by world class artists. The cast included veteran /professional actors and rank amateurs including our local pizza maker as well as our local assembly man. We

were young and old and in between. It was quite the community event, this homage to this most extraordinary human being.

Though she has passed on, she continues to inspire me. She has inspired me to dedicate myself to highlighting and sharing people’s stories, in their own words. I wish I had a video of Rosemarie telling her story. You would have loved her!

I encourage you to google her to view her artwork In Her words about her collages

A Retrospective of Collages “;My media is collage. My work is a journey from reality to fantasy: I disassemble

and reassemble images. The most important activity in collage-making is seeing. Believing what you see

and knowing it is real. I do not attach hidden meanings or stories to these pieces. Each work arises from

mutual attraction among several images. I free those from their context or their original surroundings, so that they can become acquainted with each other in the final construction.”
